Fishermen in Mannaar
Sri Lanka Navy launched a boat service to facilitate the tourists to visit the Sand Banks which lay between Thalaimannar and Rameshwaram, on 10th April 2011. The boats start the journey from the Old pier of SLNS Thammanar every day at 0800 hrs and it will take nearly two hours to reach the destination, the 2nd sand bank. The cost per local tourist is Rs. 500/= and Rs. 1000/= for a foreigner. View the Sri Lanka Navy website here.

Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Lankan civilization. The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies 205 km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malvathu Oya.

Sigiriya
Sigiriya (Lion’s rock) was a palace and rock fortress in ancient times. Although much of it is in ruin now it is listed as a world heritage site and attracts hundreds of both local and foreign tourists through out the year. It is situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. A popular tourist destination, Sigiriya is also renowned for its ancient paintings (frescos),[1] which are reminiscent of the Ajanta Caves of India. It is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

Nuwara Eliya
The tea was first grown at Nuwara Eliya near Adam’s Peak between 2200–2500 metres. The tea is grown, harvested and rolled by hand with the leaves dried and withered in the sun. It has a delicate, very light liquoring with notes of pine & honey and a golden coppery infusion. ‘Virgin White Tea’ is also grown at the Handunugoda Tea Estate near Galle in the south of Sri Lanka. It has a mean annual temperature of 16 °C.but sometimes it can be as low as 3°C. In the winter months it is quite cold at night, and there can even be frost. although it rapidly warms up as the tropical sun climbs higher during the day.

Attractions: The town’s attractions include the golf course, trout streams, Victoria Park, and boating or fishing on Lake Gregory. It is popular with birdwatchers at quieter times because of the good opportunities it gives to see various species, particularly the Indian Blue Robin, Pied Thrush or Scaly Thrush lurking in the denser undergrowth. The Kashmir Flycatcher is another attractive bird species found in the park. Galway’s Land Bird Sanctuary, close to Lake Gregory, is another wildlife site of 0.6 km².

Yala national Park
Yala plays a very significant role in conservation of al large number of flora and fauna in the country. Historical and religious sites such as Kataragama.

Ratnapura
It is the Gem City of Sri Lanka. The Gem mining industry of Sri Lanka is located here. If the weather is favorable there is good chance you could visit an actual mine and see how the gems are brought out.

Wilpattu National park
Willpattu National Park is located 25km north of Puttalam or 30km west of Anurdhapura. The park that lies on the northwest coast spans the border between North Central Province and North Western Province of Sri Lanka.
